HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU GOT YOUR FIRST PET? WHAT WAS THEIR NAME?
EMILY: I think I was around 2 years old when my dad brought me a pony. We named him “Freebie”. I had him from age 2-22. I grew up in Ohio in the country so we always had lots of animals; horses, dogs, barn cats etc
When I was in my 30s and married to Shane, I got my first dog. He was a Pomeranian named Fisker. I had him for 12 years. I still think of him every day and losing him was one of the hardest times

WHO ARE THE CURRENT PETS IN YOUR LIFE?
EMILY: Currently I have three rescue dogs: Togo, Cindi and Piper and we just recently adopted a kitten named Bagel and Luke just adopted a full grown emotional support cat from the Ark in San Juan Capistrano and he named him Domino.

WHAT IS THE BEST MEMORY YOU HAVE WITH A PET?
EMILY: My best memories with a pet would be with Fisker. He was a once in a lifetime dog. When we used to live in Utah I would take him to the stable with me when I went riding. I can always picture him sitting shot gun and going everywhere with me. His tongue wagging and the sun on his face. I have his ashes and someday I hope I see him at the rainbow bridge.

IF YOUR PETS COULD TALK, WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY'D SAY ABOUT LIFE IN THE SIMPSON HOUSEHOLD?
EMILY: My pets have a very bougie life. They all sleep in my bed. Nap on the couches and get groomed often. I think they know they are very loved and a very important part of the Simpson family

That wraps up our Dogs of Bravo interview with Emily Simpson! 🐾 From playful pups to cozy family moments, it’s so clear that Emily’s home is filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of happy tails. What makes her story even more special is that Emily and her family have chosen to adopt, not shop, opening their hearts and their home to rescued dogs and cats who needed a second chance. Their commitment to rescuing animals and giving them a safe, loving forever home is truly inspiring and something we are so proud to celebrate here at Dogs of Bravo.
We’re incredibly grateful to Emily for sharing her beautiful furry family with us, and we hope their story encourages others to consider adoption too. Be sure to check back for more Bravo star pet interviews — because every rescue has a story, and on Dogs of Bravo, those stories deserve to be told.
Before you go, we’d love to invite you to do something meaningful. The Ark of San Juan is a nonprofit rescue dedicated to saving and rehoming animals in need, and it’s organizations like this that make stories like Emily’s possible. By supporting rescue groups, we help more dogs and cats find the loving homes they deserve. If Emily and her family’s journey of adopting and rescuing has inspired you, please consider making a donation to The Ark of San Juan and being part of the life-saving work they do every day.
